After cooking this Tikki and assembling all the ingredients of the Burger, I felt veg Burger can also be delicious. Not because I have cooked it, but it tasted so nice that I almost thought of becoming a vegan. However, that is certainly not possible in near future. For now just enjoy reading this recipe and surely try your version of veg burger.
No of Person : 2
Ingredients (for Tikki):
- 1 boiled Potato
- 1 red/orange medium sized Carrot
- 3 tsp soya granules/ minced Soya bean
- 1 chopped green Capsicum
- 1 medium sized Beetroot
- 1/2 tsp crushed Black pepper
- Salt to taste
- 2 tsp Bread crumbs
- 2 Cheese slices / 1/2 bowl grated cheese. You can use mozzarella cheese if it is available. I used normal processed cheese
- Oil for Frying
- Bread crumbs for coating
Ingredients (for Garnishing):
- Soak soya granules in clean water for 5-10 mins. Then rinse all the water and set the granules aside. This is done just to soften the granules
- Take a bowl to mix our ingredients for Tikki.
- Grate boiled potato, carrot & beetroot in the bowl
- Finely chop green Capsicum and add it in the bowl along with potato, carrot and beetroot
- To this mixture add soya granules
- Now add 2 tsp of bread crumbs to the mixture
- Add 1/2 tsp of crushed black pepper and Salt to taste to the mixture
- Mix all the ingredients well, make sure there is no moisture in the mixture. In case there is some add some bread crumbs
- Taste the mixture, you can add black pepper powder & salt if needed
- Now take a dry plate and spread bread crumbs on it. We will be coating our Tikki with this bread crumbs, so please have adequate crumbs on the plate.
- Distribute the mixture evenly in 2 portion for 2 Tikki (you can make more if you wish to). If you are using grated cheese then please distribute them evenly according to your number of Tikkis
- Run a bit of oil on one of your palm, flatten one half of 1 of the portion of the mixture on your palm
- Place 1 slice / 1 portion of cheese on top of flattened mixture
- Flatten second half of 1 of the portion of the mixture such that the cheese is sealed between 2 halves of the Tikki mixture
- Shape it in the form of Burger Tikki. I am sure you have had a lot many burgers to remember the shape :)
- Place the Tikki in the plate with bread crumbs. Gently tap the surface so that the crumbs are nicely glued to the Tikki.
- Similarly prepare 2nd Tikki
- Once both of them are ready refrigerate them for at least couple of hours
- Heat oil in a pan for deep frying. If you want you can even shallow fry it.
- Add 1 Tikki at a time and 30 seconds on one side each
- Slice burger bun in 2 half. Butter toast them from inside. Do not cook them till till they are golden. We just need melted butter to be soaked in the bun
- Now that all our components are ready, it is time to assemble our burger.
Assembling:
- Nicely spread mayonnaise & ketchup on base part of the burger.
- Place 1 lettuce leaves
- On top of it place onion and tomatoes slices
- It is time to place the Tikki on it
- If you want you can place one more Lettuce leaf before finishing the burger / closing the burger lid (the top portion of the burger bun)
