Red Tikki Veg Burger

After cooking this Tikki and assembling all the ingredients of the Burger, I felt veg Burger can also be delicious. Not because I have cooked it, but it tasted so nice that I almost thought of becoming a vegan. However, that is certainly not possible in near future. For now just enjoy reading this recipe and surely try your version of veg burger.

No of Person : 2

Ingredients (for Tikki):
  1. 1 boiled Potato
  2. 1 red/orange medium sized Carrot
  3. 3 tsp soya granules/ minced Soya bean
  4. 1 chopped green Capsicum
  5. 1 medium sized Beetroot
  6. 1/2 tsp crushed Black pepper
  7. Salt to taste
  8. 2 tsp Bread crumbs
  9. 2 Cheese slices / 1/2 bowl grated cheese. You can use mozzarella cheese if it is available. I used normal processed cheese
  10. Oil for Frying
  11. Bread crumbs for coating
Ingredients (for Garnishing):
  1. 4 thin slices of Onion
  2. 2 slices of Tomato
  3. 1 tsp veg Mayonnaise (Dr. Oetker' or Del Monte's Mayonnaise are good and easily available)
  4. 1 tsp Tomato ketchup
  5. 2 Lettuce Leaves
  6. 2 Burger Buns
  7. 1/2 tsp Butter
 Preparation (for Tikki):
  1. Soak soya granules in clean water for 5-10 mins. Then rinse all the water and set the granules aside. This is done just to soften the granules
  2. Take a bowl to mix our ingredients for Tikki.
  3. Grate boiled potato, carrot & beetroot in the bowl
  4. Finely chop green Capsicum and add it in the bowl along with potato, carrot and beetroot
  5. To this mixture add soya granules
  6. Now add 2 tsp of bread crumbs to the mixture
  7. Add 1/2 tsp of crushed black pepper and Salt to taste to the mixture
  8. Mix all the ingredients well, make sure there is no moisture in the mixture. In case there is some add some bread crumbs
  9. Taste the mixture, you can add black pepper powder & salt if needed
  10. Now take a dry plate and spread bread crumbs on it. We will be coating our Tikki with this bread crumbs, so please have adequate crumbs on the plate.
  11. Distribute the mixture evenly in 2 portion for 2 Tikki (you can make more if you wish to). If you are using grated cheese then please distribute them evenly according to your number of Tikkis
  12. Run a bit of oil on one of your palm, flatten one half of 1 of the portion of the mixture on your palm
  13. Place 1 slice / 1 portion of cheese on top of flattened mixture
  14. Flatten second half of 1 of the portion of the mixture such that the cheese is sealed between 2 halves of the Tikki mixture
  15. Shape it in the form of Burger Tikki. I am sure you have had a lot many burgers to remember the shape :)
  16. Place the Tikki in the plate with bread crumbs. Gently tap the surface so that the crumbs are nicely glued to the Tikki.
  17. Similarly prepare 2nd Tikki
  18. Once both of them are ready refrigerate them for at least couple of hours
Cooking:
  1. Heat oil in a pan for deep frying. If you want you can even shallow fry it.
  2. Add 1 Tikki at a time and 30 seconds on one side each
  3. Slice burger bun in 2 half. Butter toast them from inside. Do not cook them till till they are golden. We just need melted butter to be soaked in the bun
  4. Now that all our components are ready, it is time to assemble our burger.
Assembling:
  1. Nicely spread mayonnaise & ketchup on base part of the burger.
  2. Place 1 lettuce leaves
  3. On top of it place onion and tomatoes slices
  4. It is time to place the Tikki on it
  5. If you want you can place one more Lettuce leaf before finishing the burger / closing the burger lid (the top portion of the burger bun)
Enjoy this burger with some chips (you can also cook them at home. Let it's recipe be for another blog)
